The new Signature500 and Signature1000 profilers are two 5-transducer AD2CP instruments that Nortek offers to the scientific community as an ideal platform for turbulence studies, while retaining the full capabilities of a conventional current profiler.

Signature1000 and Signature500, both advanced current profilers based on Nortek’s AD2CP platform, are designed to deliver unprecedented performance in high-energy turbulence measurements, while allowing users to acquire data using two different measurement schemes simultaneously. In addition, both models can be equipped with an altimeter, providing high-resolution data on the distance to the seabed or the surface.

They are available at two acoustic frequencies, 1 MHz and 500 kHz, and offer a new range of capabilities for research in areas such as: site characterisation for renewable energy developments, measurement of turbulent loads on turbines and other marine structures, seabed elevation changes and sediment transport, sea-ice draft variability, turbulent mixing in estuaries, and more.

Based on the new AD2CP technology, these instruments offer the following advantages:

* Reduced size and weight
* Two or more simultaneous measurement modes
* True broadband signal processing
* Synchronisation of multiple instruments via Ethernet
* Ethernet interface for direct connection to a working network, with data download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s
* Fast continuous sampling in burst mode
* Optional integration of an AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System), capable of performing real-time bin mapping of each individual acoustic pulse, ensuring excellent current-measurement quality from buoys and other moving structures
